Value of the Reynolds number at which the fluid flow mode changes from a laminar to a turbulent regime.
Comment. We sometimes use the term "critical Reynolds number" at conditions corresponding to the loss of stability of the laminar flow and corresponding to a transition to fully developed turbulent flow
