The Celsius temperature scale is one of three measures for determining the temperature of materials. Named after Swedish astronomer and physicist Andres Celsius (1701-1744). This scale has 100 intervals, or Celsius degrees, between the temperature of ice melting (0°C) and of water boiling (100°C). It is also known as the Centigrade temperature scale.

In the International practical temperature scales of 1968 and 1990, Celsius degree is defined as tC = TK − 273.15. The dimension of the unit of the Celsius and Kelvin scales is the same.
