Methylamine (CH3NH2) is a colorless, ammonia-like smelling gas which is soluble in water. It is obtained by a catalytic reaction between Methanol and ammonia at high temperature. It is flammable, very toxic and at low to medium concentration it forms an explosive mixture. Its main use is in the paint and polymer industries, although it is also used in the manufacture of insecticides and fungicides.
