Réaumur degree (named after the French naturalist R.A.F. Réaumur, 1683–1757) is an obsolete unit of temperature (designated by °R), equal to 1/80 part of the temperature interval between the points of ice melting (0°R) and of water boiling (80°R). At normal atmospheric pressure 1°C = 0.8°R (for temperature difference), T (°C) = 0.8T (°R) (for temperature).
