Phosphoric acid (H3PO4) is a crystalline solid of molecular weight of 97.995 when pure. It melts at 315.6 K and its specific gravity is 1.8. At lower strengths in aqueous solution it is a colorless liquid. It is corrosive and attacks ferrous metals. It is also toxic and an irritant to skin.
